FAQs - 2020 Winter Swap & Tent Sale


What are the dates for the 2020 Swap & Tent Sale?

November 4th through November 8th (Wednesday-Friday: 10 am to 7 pm, Saturday: 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday: Noon to 5 pm

Where will the tent sale take place?

475 Westfield Road, Charlottesville, VA 22901. The tent will be located behind our facility this year.

Is there parking available for this sale?

Yes, spaces available in our store parking lot.

When can I drop off items for consignment?

Gently used gear can be dropped off for consignment starting October 17th through November 2nd.

What items are accepted for consignment?

This year we are accepting skis, boots, boards, bindings and ski poles. Due to COVID-19 we are unable to accept clothing items and/or soft goods (gloves, socks, etc.)

Is there a way to print and fill out my consignment form prior to dropping off my consignment items?

Do you take helmets?

No, we will not be taking helmets this year.

What happens when my consignment items sell?

You will receive a credit in the form of a gift card to use on future in-store purchases. This credit will be available for pick-up the week following the last day of the sale.

What happens if my consignment items do not sell?

All unsold items need to be picked up by 5 pm on November 8th. Any uncollected items will be left outside and are not the responsibility of Freestyle. We simply do not have the space to store uncollected items.

What items will be under the tent this year?

We will have Freestyle merchandise, equipment and accessories as well as consignment gear available under the tent this year.

Will there be any sales or deals on items under the tent?

Yes, we will have many great offers this year including Helly Hansen and Obermeyer sales rep sample apparel at 50% off, package deals on skis and bindings as well as snowboards and bindings and be on the lookout for our Daily Deals announced the evening before each day of the sale.

What precautions are being taken regarding COVID-19 and the Swap sale?

Many things are different this year with our sale but we are striving to keep the energy and spirit of this sale alive! Here are a few of the things we have planned to keep our customers and staff healthy and safe during our sale.

  • All consignment goods will be sanitized upon drop-off.
  • Countertops and hard surfaces are and will continue to be sanitized frequently.
  • Masks are mandatory when shopping the tent sale and/or in the actual store.
  • Hand sanitizer will be provided at the entrance to the store and the tent as well as throughout the tent in designated locations.
  • The number of people in the tent will be closely monitored and adjusted if needed per Governor guidelines.
  • Customers are asked to use a disposable shower cap (provided) when trying on helmets.
  • If you are planning to try-on ski or snowboard boots please bring a clean pair of socks.

Can I camp out the night before the start of the sale?

Due to COVID-19 we cannot allow any camping prior to the start of the sale.

Will there be any public restrooms?

No, due to COVID-19 there are no public restrooms on site.

Will there be swag bags for the first 50 people like in years past?

We will have swag gift bags this year, however they will be given out through our new Raffle system. For additional information regarding the raffle and how to enter please CLICK HERE. Don’t miss this chance to win some great swag and help support a local no kill animal shelter. Swag bags will include items such as winter apparel, accessories, brand merchandise and more!

Will the event happen if the weather is unfavorable?

Yes, this is a rain or shine event as it takes place under a large tent and inside our brick and mortar store.

Will there be any local resort representation at the sale?

We are uncertain at this time whether there will representatives from any of the local resorts or season passes being sold. We will announce any updates on this matter as new information is provided to our team.
